‘The most meaningful moment of my life’: Harborough teenager claims national boxing title
An up-and-coming Market Harborough boxer has clinched his first-ever national title, seeing off a host of top young fighters to achieve a lifelong dream.
Patsy-Joe Mochan, 15, recently won the England Boxing Class A Development National Championship title, which took place in Kettering on Sunday, October 18.

In doing so, Patsy-Joe secured the 25th national title in the past five years for his boxing gym, Leicester Lightning ABC.
The hard-working teenager booked his place in the nationals with Midlands Championship victories over Chavez Conception (Leicester Unity) and Olly Hughes (Wallop ABC).

In the national stages of the competition, Patsy-Joe first came up against Henry Knight of Legions ABC in the quarters and was victorious following a close split decision.
The Harborough lad then recorded a statement unanimous decision win over Patrick Fleming of Bootle Mapleleaf in the semi-final.
Facing Maksymilian Semenyshyn (White Hart Lane ABC) in the final, Patsy-Joe weathered heavy early exchanges in round one before taking total control in the second.
The referee stepped in to stop the contest following three eight-second standing counts, crowning Patsy-Joe the new England Boxing National Development Champion.
Known on the circuit for donning a Mexican sombrero before fights as an homage to his aggressive boxing style, Patsy-Joe dedicated the emotional victory to his late baby brother, William.
“Stepping into that ring and claiming the national boxing title felt like the hardest, most meaningful moment of my life,” Patsy-Joe told the Harborough Mail.
“I did it all in loving memory of my little brother, William. Every early‑morning run, every tough sparring session, every ache and doubt along the way tested me deeply; the dedication demanded so much sacrifice and perseverance.
“There were days I wondered if I could keep pushing, but I carried William’s spirit with me through every round, letting it fuel my focus and strength.
“It wasn’t easy by any means, but all that relentless hard work finally paid off when that title was mine, knowing I’d fought for something far bigger than just a trophy.”
Patsy-Joe will look to build on his momentum when he next competes at the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs (NAGBC) Championships.
