‘It is about the future of our countryside’: Campaign group to speak at Harborough’s local plan hearing
A campaign group opposing large-scale housing developments in Harborough will share its thoughts as the council goes through details of its local plan.
Independent examiners will look at Harborough District Council’s local plan, starting on November 10.

The inspectors will consider the council's vision for future land use and new developments over the next 15 years.
Stop The New Town (STNT), a group against the proposed 4,000-home development off of Gartree Road, has submitted evidence as part of the examination and will be involved in several hearing sessions.
The group said: “It is challenging whether alternative sites have been properly assessed and whether the roads, services and other infrastructure needed to support development on this scale can genuinely be funded and delivered.”
The group’s concerns include the loss of countryside and productive farmland, increased traffic, pressure on infrastructure and services as well as the consequences for flooding in the area.
Dr Henri Winand, chair of STNT, explained: "This is about more than 4,000 houses. It is about the future of our countryside, the wellbeing of existing rural communities and whether the infrastructure can possibly keep pace with development on this scale.”
