Harborough Town boss Mitch Austin makes ‘best so far’ claim following Buxton defeat

Manager Mitch Austin is making no excuses following Harborough Town’s disappointing 3-0 defeat away at Buxton.

The Bees were outclassed from start to finish as they were condemned to their fifth National League North loss of the season in Derbyshire on Tuesday night.

Finn Cousin-Dawson opened the scoring for Buxton on the half-hour mark before Sisa Tuntulwana and Ashton Mee’s goals made sure of the result in the second half.

Albeit a frustrating evening for Harborough, boss Austin took the result on the chin and he’s keen to learn from it.

“Full credit to Buxton, that was probably the best team we’ve faced - certainly with the fixtures we’ve had - so far,” Austin told @HarbTownFC.

“On a Tuesday night, it’s a tough place to come. They’re well-drilled, organised, physical and didn’t give us a minute.

“We talk about learning at this level, but we’ve got loads of experience players in there, so we should be doing better.

“It’s always tough when you lose 3-0, right, but let’s front it. It’s a tough learning curve, right?”

On what went wrong, Austin added: “It’s simple. We were beaten by the better side. You can look at all the mechanics of it, but we just lost to the better team.

“We can look into detail but we’ve got a heavy schedule coming up and we need to park this one quickly, and remember the feeling.

“We weren’t at the races but we need to regroup and show what we’re good at to pick up points on the road, and quite quickly.”

Next up, Harborough travel away to the 13th-placed Hebburn Town, a fellow HTFC who also don yellow and black on their home kit.

“Going into the Hebburn game, we’re a little bit hurt and we’ve got a point to prove, I’d say. I’ll expect a much better showing from the lads,” Austin continued.

“We’ve got a good group. They need to show a bit more aggression in front of goal, and be a bit more clinical. They can believe in themselves a bit more.

“At the moment, we’re up and down. We’re a good side that’s got potential to be great. It’s for us to work on.”

The Bees’ clash with Hebburn kicks off at 3pm this Saturday, October 31.
