Countdown is on for Lubenham's annual scarecrow festival

Lubenham is gearing up for its annual scarecrow festival - where up to 200 imaginative creations will be on display for two days later this month.

Residents, schools and businesses are busy adding the final touches to their scarecrows ahead of the festival on September 12 and 13.

Gardens, hedgerows and fences will be decorated with various different interpretations of scarecrows, from traditional designs to pop culture icons and other humorous creations.

The festival is a great opportunity for families to wander the village, enjoy the fresh air, and admire the creativity on show.

There will be free tractor rides and the church will serve teas, coffees and cakes during the weekend.

Car parking is free at three car parks in Laughton Road, Old Hall Lane and Foxton Road

There will be stalls on The Green raising money for local charities and groups.

The Cow and Plough pub will be open for hot food and drinks, with hosts Smithy and Kelly.

Three-piece covers band, The Smarties, will perform from 2pm on Saturday, followed by Mullered at the Mill.

Kettering band Troubadour will play some tunes from 2pm on Sunday.

Kids can make the most of the entertainment on offer, including bumper cars, bungee trampolines, cookie decorating and an inflatable maze.

People are reminded to put their scarecrows out early, as visitors may be walking around before the official start of the festival.

The organisers said: “We cannot wait to welcome you all to Lubenham for a weekend of scarecrows, stalls, food, music, entertainment and plenty of village fun.”
