54 years after childhood promise - Market Harborough woman finally writes her book
At the age of 10, growing up in Market Harborough, Judith Munson (now Judith Morris) made herself a promise: one day she would write a book.

At Fairfield Road C of E Primary School, one teacher in particular, Mr Fagin, encouraged Judith's writing, regularly adding comments in her English exercise book that were full of praise.
Now, 54 years later, Judith, aged 64, has finally kept that childhood promise with the publication of her memoir, Stepping out of Silence, from shame & anxiety to becoming the real me.
Judith has lived in Daventry since 1989, but Market Harborough remains an important part of her story. Her memoir explores her journey from a difficult and restrictive childhood towards self-discovery, self-acceptance and finding her voice.
Although Judith continued writing over the years, she never considered herself a writer. In 2019, she began writing about her profound connection with nature, and those pieces eventually led her into memoir.
“When I began writing in memoir form, it just flowed,” says Judith. “I wasn't setting out to write a book. I was simply following where the writing took me.”
“I am honestly amazed that at ten years old I knew what I needed to do,” she says.
Judith hopes that sharing her story will encourage others to explore their own silences, listen to their inner voice and perhaps discover that it is never too late to fulfil a childhood ambition.
