The funding is available to community groups that work with adults living with long-term health conditions, disabilities, caring responsibilities, loneliness or social isolation.

Cllr Michael Squires from Leicestershire County Council said: "This is a fantastic new fund, and I’m delighted we’ll be able to offer it to our rural communities.

“We know that local groups understand their communities best, and by strengthening local support and developing opportunities for services closer to home it means we will see stronger, more connected rural communities.

“We’ve also made sure that this fund lasts for four years so that local areas can benefit for the long-term to bring sustainable and lasting projects.”

More details about the fund will be announced in the coming weeks.
