Date confirmed for reopening of Lutterworth tip – but only for three days a week
A date has been confirmed for when the Lutterworth recycling centre will reopen after it was closed by the council at the start of August.
Leicestershire County Council shut the Moorbarns Lane site as the service faced ‘exceptionally high demand’ and the impact of national pressures on tips.

Now, more than three weeks later, the council has revealed when the Lutterworth recycling centre will reopen.
The tip will be open to the public on Thursday, September 3, but will only operate three days per week.
The phased reopening means people will only be able to drop off waste on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Councillor Adam Tilbury, cabinet member for waste, said: “I’m really pleased that we’re able to confirm dates to reopen – I fully recognise how inconvenient this has been for some people and I want to reiterate my thanks for your patience.
“There’s still pressure in the waste sector across the country, but our team has worked as quickly as possible to get to the point where we can reopen these sites for residents to use.”
