Storm Dennis has led to cancellation of public open day this weekend at Foxton Locks

You won’t be able to explore deep into drained locks at Foxton this weekend as new storms are set to blast south Leicestershire.

A Canal & River Trust spokesman said: “We’re really disappointed as we were looking forward to it but the safety of our visitors has to be the main priority.

“The good news is that we still have three more weekends planned, starting on Saturday 22nd February 22.

People will be able to see behind the scenes of our lock gate replacement works and walk down into a drained lock at Foxton.”
