The Conservative MP has written Parliamentary Questions to Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden asking him to get behind struggling rugby outfits.

“I have been contacted by a huge number of constituents requesting that the Government provide further support to clubs such as Leicester Tigers, but also smaller clubs at a grassroots levels,” said Alberto.

“The effects of the coronavirus have been terrible for rugby clubs, professional and otherwise, across the country.

“And if we are to continue to see rugby thriving then it’s important the sport has all the assistance it needs.

“As a keen Tigers fan myself, I know the fantastic benefits the club brings to our communities and economies in Leicester and Leicestershire.

Rugby is more than an 80-minute game on a Saturday.

“It often brings villages and towns together and provides a social and community outlet for people across the country.

“I will continue working with the Government to see that rugby clubs of all shapes and sizes have the support they require moving forward.”
