There are no trains through Market Harborough this morning (Wednesday February 26) after a person was hit by a train on the line through Leicestershire at around 6am.

East Midlands Railway are working to find alternative transport for stranded passengers while the tracks are closed between Harborough and Leicester and East Midlands Railway services.

An EMR spokesman said: ""At present the emergency services are on site dealing with the incident so trains cannot run in either direction between Leicester and Market Harborough.

"Some trains will be cancelled, some trains will be diverted between Leicester and Kettering and will not be able to call at Market Harborough in either direction.

"Replacement bus services have been requested to run in both directions between Leicester, Market Harborough and Kettering.

"At present we have no estimate for when the incident will be dealt with and when the line can be re-opened."
