Harborough teenager who died in head-on collision has been named

A teenager killed in a head-on collision in Foxton last week has been named.

He was 17-year-old Ryan Tealby from Market Harborough.

Ryan’s devastated family have issued a picture of the popular teenager but are too distraught to talk about the tragedy.

A Leicestershire Police spokeswoman said: “They have asked to be given privacy at this difficult time.”

Ryan was a rear seat passenger in a silver Volkswagen Polo when it collided head-on with a blue Toyota Avensis in Foxton at about 6pm last Tuesday (Nov 19).

He was declared dead at the scene.

A front seat passenger was cut free from the wrecked Polo by firefighters and rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

They have now been released and allowed to go home, the police spokeswoman said.

Police, firefighters and ambulances as well as the air ambulance all raced to the collision which has rocked the tiny village.

The Avensis driver miraculously escaped uninjured but was seriously shaken up.

The Polo was heading towards the A6 while the Avensis was travelling in the opposite direction when they collided.

A fire engine from Market Harborough, a fire appliance from Kibworth and technical rescue teams from Leicester’s Southern Fire Station were all sent to the devastating smash.

Det Con John Borlase, of Leicestershire Police, is carrying out an investigation into the accident.

He is urging any eye-witnesses or anyone who has any dashcam footage to contact police immediately.

Det Con Borlase said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, saw the vehicles beforehand or has any dashcam footage.

“Please get in touch with any information which could assist our investigation.”
