25 people have died due to Covid-19 in the Harborough district in January.
That equates to just over 20 per cent of all deaths during the pandemic occurring in just one month.

Hide AdIn total, 119 people have now died in the district since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has complied the data, covering January 2021 and all the way to the start of the pandemic last year.
They state that the deaths they have recorded are where COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death.
Broughton Astley saw the highest number of deaths in January, with five of their seven overall deaths occurring in that month.

Hide AdThis means, of course, that many thousands of people recovered from the virus. Many had little or no symptoms - but unfortunately there are no figures for these specific categories.
Another positive note is that many thousands of people have now been vaccinated, or are waiting for their second vaccination - and figures of positive cases are falling across the district and country.
Also, there were only five deaths across the town over the whole of January - and while every death is a tragedy, that figure is lower compared to many other towns in the UK.
