The market, which is celebrating the 800th anniversary of its Tuesday mart this year, said: “The funeral of HRH The Duke Of Edinburgh will take place on Saturday 17th April at 3pm.

“Acting on feedback from our businesses, we have collectively made the decision to close at 2pm on Saturday 17th as a mark of respect, and so traders can watch the funeral if they wish.”

The Duke of Edinburgh died at Windsor Castle last Friday (April 9) just two months short of his 100th birthday.
