Obituary of Lutterworth Rotarian Bryan Cooper - written by the Lutterworth Rotary
Retired local businessman Bryan Cooper has died aged 77.
Bryan was well known and respected in the catering industry as he owned Magna Textiles Services in Leicester which provided a laundry service to local restaurants and caterers.
For 20 years previously he worked for the Belgrave and Wigston Laundry Services and was appointed area sales director when the business was taken over by Sunlight Laundry.
In 1990 he decided to form his own company starting by using a domestic washing machine at home.
Ten years later he sold a successful business and retired just in time to travel with his wife Shirley to the 2000 Sydney Paralympics and see their son win a silver medal.
Shirley died five years ago after working as an SRN at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and later as a district nurse and school nurse.
Bryan was a past president of the Lutterworth Rotary Club where he formed a team to compete in the national disabled sports competition, winning six times and gaining second three times.
Ex Tigers player John Duggan has supported the team since 2009.
A keen theatre goer, Bryan also enjoyed singing in the choir and had his own parking place to watch his other passion - Leicestershire Cricket Club.
Bryan leaves a son and daughter, two grandchildren and many friends who will miss this kind, generous and fun loving gentleman.
