MP chairs meeting to solve car trouble at rec
The problems centred on Coventry Road Recreation Ground in Lutterworth, which young motorists were using as an unofficial meeting place, speeding round and in and out of the car park and playing loud music from car sound systems.
Local residents complained that the noise and disturbance could go on until after midnight.

“I think the meeting made it clear to the residents that we were taking the problem seriously.
“And I think the outcome - combining a camera in the car park with residents’ own reporting of when the incidents happen - is a good one.”
South Leicestershire MP Alberto Costa chaired the meeting on the problem at the One Stop Shop in the town.

ASB is a particularly difficult and tiresome issue for local communities and so I was very pleased to organise this multi-agency meeting, with the objective of finding a long-term remedy to the issues affecting constituents living near Coventry Road”.
Leicestershire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Lord Willie Bach added: “It was good to have the opportunity to hear at first-hand about the problems that people have been experiencing, and I know that the partnership between the police and local authorities will work hard to resolve these issues.”
Alberto said: “I’m very grateful to Lord Bach and the other representatives from Leicestershire Police and the local authority for giving up their time to discuss this vitally important issue.
“I look forward to working closely with the fellow attendees in the future to ensure that this is not a recurring issue.”
