A woman has been fined £300 after she paid a man to get rid of her rubbish – and it was fly-tipped in countryside on the edge of Market Harborough.
The woman, who’s in her 50s but cannot be named, was tracked down after her waste was dumped on a leafy country lane at Great Bowden.

She was fined after her rubbish was piled up on Welham Lane in August.
The woman admitted transferring her waste to an unlicensed carrier without making any ‘duty of care’ checks, the council said.
The local authority’s enviro-crime team is now stepping up attempts to find the man who tipped her rubbish.

Hide AdCllr Jonathan Bateman, the council’s Cabinet lead for environment and waste, said: “Whilst this is another successful outcome for our investigative team, it also serves as a reminder that residents and businesses must dispose of their waste in the correct and legal manner.
“It is crucial, if you are using a third party to dispose of your rubbish, that you ensure they are registered by asking to see their valid waste carriers licence.”
He said there are several ways to dispose of waste that cannot go into wheeled bins:
- Take large waste items to your local recycling and waste site (tip)

The council’s large waste items for collection service allows for up to three large household items or 12 sacks of waste to be collected for a charge of £35.04. You can find out more at www.harborough.gov.uk/tip-off
