Leicester Comedy Festival BIG Weekend is returning to Harborough in February 2021 - with a slightly different feel to previous years amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

The last two years have seen laugh-a-minute acts performing in venues right across Harborough district.

But Government restrictions may mean that the 2021 event sees less live acts and more online activities and community engagement.

Harborough council is urging anyone who wishes to take part in the festival to get in touch - whether they are a business, a venue, a community group, an amateur comedian, schools or older people’s homes.

Cllr Phil King, the leader of Harborough council, said: “We are busy working on the programme for 2021, but understandably this may look different to previous years.

“Our emphasis will be on business and community engagement, working with schools and older people, as well as supporting those venues and community groups that are able to participate.”

The ‘take part’ sentiment is very much echoed by Leicester Comedy Festival Director Geoff Rowe.

“We are delighted that the Leicester Comedy Festival BIG Weekend will be returning to Harborough District in February.

“I think everyone expects and understands that nearly everything is going to have to be bit different in this new normal that we live in and the BIG Weekend will be no different,” said Geoff.

“What we do know is that the events and activities will help rebuild communities, give people something to look forward to and hopefully help improve the wellbeing of residents and visitors.

“The continued support of our partners, venues and especially Harborough District Council is very much appreciated, and we encourage people to get in touch if they want to be involved.”

The Leicester Comedy Festival will take place from Wednesday February 3 – Sunday February 21 2021.
