130 people across Harborough are gearing up to compete in what is thought to be the country’s first ever Zoom murder mystery

An astonishing 130 people are gearing up to compete in a trailblazing fundraising virtual ‘whodunnit’ across Harborough on Saturday night (November 21).

Remotely sat 12 to a table, participants will be racking their brains and trying their hardest to nail the killer in what’s thought to be the country’s first ever Zoom murder mystery.

The online Cluedo-type thriller is being staged by Market Harborough 41 Club, a thriving social networking organisation for former Round Tablers.

Ian Humphrey, the club’s chairman, said: “It’s going to be really exciting and we cannot wait to get started.

“We are just hoping that it will be all right on the night technically as we’ll be doing it all ourselves!

“But it’s promising to be a fantastic night – and we will be supporting two vital charities as well so everyone’s a winner.”

He said that an inspirational local drama group is helping to power the classic murder mystery brain teaser.

“These actors are loving it and they’ve been absolutely brilliant – writing this amazing whodunnit from scratch.

“We are staging this incredible event instead of our usual annual ladies’ night – and it’s really taken off,” said delighted Ian.

“We have already got 130 people signed up to take part, exceeding our wildest expectations.

“The sense of anticipation is sky high.

“I know that we are all looking forward to trying to come out on top in what promises to be a supremely-entertaining night of fun and laughs.

“We are also throwing our weight behind two crucial causes – Dementia UK and the Leicester-based Hope Against Cancer.

“We have already raised over £1,000 for these first-class charities and we are hoping to increase that figure still further.

“Our theatre doors will open virtually at about 6.45pm on Saturday night with the final curtain coming down at about 9.30pm-10pm.

“We’ve certainly captured people’s imagination and it’s going to be such an uplifting, positive and fun-packed event to enjoy after such a difficult year for all of us.”
