Night of music gets into the swing of things for charity

The Swing Museum will be performing at St Dionysius Church on Saturday, March 12.

The quartet have performed at festivals, concerts, dance events and wedding receptions throughout the country for some years, in venues from Devon to Hull, The Stag Theatre, Sevenoaks, and Hackney Picture House. They have appeared at the Twinwood (international Glenn Miller) Festival since 2007 and they gave a performance for The National Jazz Archive in London last September.

Other festivals they have played at include Godiva Festival in Coventry, Stratford River Festival, Stratford Food Festival, Rugby Culture Festival and Crick Boat Festival.

The Swing Museum have played very successful concerts for the anniversary of Dallington Church, St Andrew’s Church in Rugby and St Botolph’s in Newbold on Avon.

The members are A C Wood, guitar, from Gloucester, Andrew Rackham, violin, from Rugby, Adam Fernie, guitar, from Rugby, and Stewart Brackley, double bass, from Market Harborough.

All members of the quartet lead a varied musical life performing in many other groups. CDs are available from the band.

A spokesman for the event organisers said: “The Friends of St Dionysius are understandably excited to be able to offer this outstanding charitable event in order to raise funds for the upkeep of the bricks and mortar fabric of this beautiful town landmark, and look forward to welcoming lovers of jazz to their venue.”

The concert starts at 7.30pm with doors opening at 7pm. Tickets are on sale in advance from the church office and MH Music on St Mary’s Road, and will also be available on the door, on the night.

Wine from Duncan Murray’s will be available during the interval and tickets will be priced at £8 for centre aisle and £6 for side aisle and gallery seats.
