A major weekend music show poised to go ahead in Market Harborough in August has been postponed.
Leicester’s One Big weekend have called off the festival at the Showground after the Government decided to delay totally lifting Covid lockdown restrictions.
X Factor winner Sam Bailey and Scouting for Girls were among those lined up to entertain fans at the two-day event on Saturday August 14 and Sunday August 15.
The spectacular was being staged to raise vital funds for the Sue Young Cancer Support charity in Leicestershire and Rutland.
The organisers now hope to hold the eagerly-awaited show next year.
“Following the announcement by the Government that Covid-19 lockdown easing is being delayed, we’ve now made the difficult decision to postpone Leicester’s One Big weekend.
“We have been working closely with the local authority and unfortunately due to restrictions held on the venue, we can no longer hold the event at this present time,” said the organisers.
“We are all devastated as a lot of time and planning has gone into bringing you Leicester’s One Big Weekend.
“We also know that for those of you that have been looking forward to this event, you will be deeply saddened by this announcement.
“The good news is we will be back!!
“We are working very hard with our amazing artists to bring you a new date for Leicester’s One Big Weekend in 2022 which will be released as soon as possible.
“For everyone that has purchased a ticket, we want to say a massive thank-you for supporting our charity, but also to say please keep it safe for our new date.”
