Cons complete stirring fightback to claim the win against Nelson

Market Harborough Cons produced a stirring fightback to beat Nelson A 14-13 in the Men’s Darts League.

In what was a topsy turvy encounter, Cons found themselves 6-3 up after the pairs but 3-0 wins for Lee Keating and Gary Freestone, plus a 2-1 victory for Frankie Monk (108 finish), put the Nelson in the box seat.

In between those victories John Lawler beat Nelson captain Dave Simmonds 2-1, leaving the match score at 12-10.

Jeff Alden beat Andy Johnson (122 finish) 2-1 but the leg gained by Johnson put The Nelson a point away from the win. It was left to the hero of the hour Mick Marlow to defeat Ryan Norton 3-0 to complete the comeback.

Desborough Cons beat The Royalist 14-13, Gary Drage tak the decisive 26th and 27th legs.

Nelson B gained an emphatic 26-1 win over Desborough Services while another one-sided game saw The Old Works’ unbeaten run continue as they overcame The Bulls Head 25-2.

The Nags remain unbeaten as they won 18-9 at Rothwell Cons.

In the B League, The Stag entertained The Fox, the latter coming out on top, winning 15-12.

The Stag edged the pairs 5-4 but Ben Godlington levelled the scores beating Dan Hewitt 2-1.

Dawn Jerman then put The Stag back ahead beating Brad Godlington 2-1.

That was as good as it got as The Fox reeled off the next four singles 2-1.
