Josh Dixon says he is not ready for Lutterworth Town’s FA Vase adventure to end... but he knows his ‘underdogs’ will have to cause an upset.

The Swifts make the long 200-mile journey north to face Consett on Saturday, with the winners booking their place in round five of the competition and taking a step closer to the showpiece Wembley final.

Dixon’s squad may have a few regulars unavailable for the clash at Belle View Stadium, but the Lutterworth boss says his side are ready for the challenge.

“We’re looking forward to it. We’re up for it,” he said.

“It’s the biggest game of the season for us really.

“Of course we don’t want it (the cup run) to end. We’re the underdogs but sometimes that can help you.

“In cup football anything can happen.”

If Lutterworth are to leave the North East with victory, it will certainly be down to a real squad effort.

“The biggest issue for me is that we’ve got several injuries, players that are cup tied and suspended,” Dixon added.

“We’ve got about eight first-team players missing. But we’ve got a few young lads who can come in and it’s a big opportunity for them.”

Dixon, however, is under no illusions that Consett - currently fourth in the Northern League Division One - will be a pushover.

“They’re one of the tougher games in the round and we’ll have to travel a long way,” he said.

“They’ll have a big crowd of 400 or 500 there as well, and I don’t think too many of our fans will be travelling all that way.”

Zak Adams was on target as the Swifts secured a 1-0 win at Wellingborough in the United Counties League Premier Division on Saturday, ending a run of four games without victory.

“Keeping a clean sheet going into Saturday was the biggest positive for me because I know we’ll have to go to Consett and defend very well if we are going to get anything from the game,” Dixon continued.

“It’s always nice to begin the new year with a win and a clean sheet.”

Kick off will be at 3pm.
