The Yoto Player has become a family favourite in our home.
I didn’t expect a little screen-free audio player to become the thing I recommend most to other mums, but here we are. I genuinely cannot stop talking about the Yoto player and every time a friend tells me they’re struggling with screen time I immediately become that person who says, “Have you tried a Yoto?”
At first, I thought it might be one of those parenting gadgets that sounds brilliant in theory but ends up forgotten in a corner after two weeks. But the Yoto player quickly became part of our daily routine, and now I can’t imagine our house without it. My son is obsessed with it, and I completely understand why.
The biggest thing for me is that it gives him independence. He can choose what he wants to listen to all by himself stories, music, podcasts or calming sounds. There’s no complicated menu, no ads, no overstimulating flashing screens. He just pops in a Yoto card and it works. Watching him confidently control his own little listening world without needing me every five minutes has been amazing.
I’m not anti-screen at all sometimes you just need ten minutes to cook dinner in peace but I was starting to notice how difficult it was to pull my son away from tablets and TV. The Yoto feels completely different. He’ll sit quietly listening to stories while colouring, building Lego, or just playing in his room, and I love that it sparks his imagination instead of replacing it.

The content is brilliant too. There’s such a good mix of classic stories, educational content, music, mindfulness, and fun character cards. Yoto have just released the new Paddington: The Musical card which we have already added to our wishlist. My son’s already a fan of Paddington the movie and Tom Fletcher so I know he will love listening to the musical.
I’m not going to lie, I have now become the mum who doesn’t stop talking about the Yoto Player. And honestly? I’m fine with that. Because every time one of my friends purchases a Yoto they love it too. If you’re considering one, this is your sign. It’s one of the best parenting purchases we’ve made.

Plant-based ready meals have come a long way from the bland reputation they once had, and services such as Grubby are leaning into meals that look more like comforting weeknight dinners than traditional ‘healthy eating’ options.

Theme parks are increasingly shifting beyond rides alone, with short breaks, themed hotels and family attractions turning them into longer getaway experiences rather than simple day visits. Alton Towers seems to be leading the way.
