Letters inviting over 65s for Covid vaccine will be sent out from Monday
Letters will be delivered to millions of people over the age of 65 in England next week, inviting them for their Covid-19 vaccination.
Invitations to have the vaccine will be sent out from Monday (15 February) to the latest priority group, according to a report seen by The Sun.
The letters will invite people to receive their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination at a larger vaccination centre or at a pharmacy.
More than 13 million jabs
A total of 13,509,108 people have now received the Covid-19 vaccine across the UK, as part of the government’s huge vaccination programme.
The government looks to be on track to reach its target of offering the vaccine to 15 million vulnerable people by mid-February.
The continued vaccination of the vulnerable puts the UK in a more promising position towards easing current lockdown restrictions.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is due to set out the “road map” for England to come out of its third national lockdown later this month, with an announcement expected in the week commencing 22 February.
A Department of Health and Social Care spokesman said the vaccination programme was running on schedule, stating: “Thanks to the tireless efforts of NHS staff, volunteers and local authorities we have vaccinated more than 13.5 million people so far.
“We are on track to hit our target of offering vaccines to everyone in the top four groups by 15 February and will then move on to the next cohorts.”
I received a letter but haven't booked an appointment?
If you receive a letter and have not yet booked an appointment to get your vaccination, you may get a phone call from the NHS Immunisation Management Service.
This will be a reminder to book you Covid-19 vaccination appointments.
