The couple met back in school but went their separate ways.

After reconnecting they quickly became engaged in 2018.

In 2019 he announced to his fans that they had married, but did not elaborate any further details about the wedding.

However the world was given a rare peak into their relationship in his music video for Put It All On Me, which he released last year.

The couple make their appearance near the end of the video, with a home video clip in which they are dancing and kissing in their kitchen.

The video described their romance with the words "Back in high school, Ed & Cherry were crushing hard."

Referencing the singer's hit song Castle on the Hill, named after Framlingham Castle near where the singer grew up, the video goes on to explain: "They made out at the castle on the hill / A few years ago they reconnected, there were fireworks / They married in January 2019.”

Why did Sheeran take a break from social media?

In December 2019 the 29-year-old announced to his Instagram followers that he was taking a break from  social media and work in order to "go out and see more of the world".

Describing his life as "a bit non-stop since 2017" he had decided to "take a breather to travel write and read".
