The raffle was set up by local resident John Woodford who contacted Lutterworth Mayor Tony Hirons saying he wanted to help The Mayor’s Appeal.

Mr Woodford offered to organise a charity raffle and approached local shops and businesses to see if they would support it. The response was phenomenal with around 60 prizes in total donated by local businesses.

The draw is taking place at Lutterworth Town Council offices on Friday. Tickets have been on sale at outlets around the town and already over £800 has been raised. It is hoped, when everything has been collected, to break the £1,000 barrier.

The Mayor’s Appeal this year is for a wet weather shelter in the new cemetery and to raise money for the Community First Responders.
