UPDATE: Woman cut from car in A157 crash

A WOMAN had to been cut from her car after a serious collision on the A157 at East Barkwith.

Police have closed the road between Wragby and Louth and there is traffic delays in the area.

The 45-year-old woman, believed to be from Lincoln, smashed her blue Peugeot 207 into a tree, which then fell onto her car. It happened at about 6.50am this morning.

Firefighters freed the woman from her car using hydraulic equipment and she was taken to Lincoln County hospital where her injuries are described as serious. No-one else was in the car at the time of the crash.

Police have set up a diversion and are now trying to trace and inform the woman’s relatives.

The investigating officers are asking for a witness appeal and would like anyone who saw the collision or who may have seen the car on the road prior to the collision to contact them via the collision witness hotline 01522 558855.
