Some roads closed in Market Harborough as shops re-open

Shoppers are being warned that some roads will be closed in Market Harborough town centre from Monday June 15 as many more stores re-open

Traffic will also be rejigged in Lutterworth, Kibworth and Fleckney as Harborough District Council acts to make town centres safer for queueing customers observing the two-metre rule.

In Market Harborough, Church Street will be closed to traffic, along with part of Adam and Eve Street.

Diversions will be clearly signposted, the council said.

A two-way traffic system will operate along Church Square, from Roman Way to Factory Lane.

This is the main raft of road and traffic changes going ahead across Harborough from Monday June 15:

Market Harborough

§ Closure to traffic of Adam and Eve Street between St Mary’s Road and the junction with Factory Lane (the access road next to Harborough Theatre) and the suspension of the on-street parking.

§ Introduction of two-way traffic along the section of Church Square running from the junction with Roman Way to Factory Lane and the suspension of the on-street parking along this section of Church Square. Blue Badge parking bays remain.

§ Closure of Church Street between High Street and Church Square and suspension of on-street parking. No access from King’s Road on to Church Street.

§ Suspension of on-street parking on parts of High Street and Coventry Road.

Lutterworth

§ Closure of Church Street (between High Street and George Street/Bank Street) to all traffic except for buses. The suspension of the on-street parking. George Street and Bank Street remain open.

Kibworth Beauchamp

§ Suspension of on-street parking on part of High Street up to Blue Badge parking bay which remains.

Fleckney

§ Introduction of advisory 20mph speed limit on High Street.
