Drivers face longer delays after the recent wintry blast has held up vital resurfacing and maintenance work on the busy A6 from Market Harborough to Desborough.

Overnight road closures will now be put in place until at least next Wednesday (March 3) on the main road after the scheme has slipped behind schedule.

The extensive project was due to be finished this week.

But heavy snowfall, ice and sub-zero temperatures over the last few weeks have had a significant impact on the initiative, highway bosses at Leicestershire County Council said.
