Police are striving to track down the owner of 10 ponies found roaming around on a dark country road near Market Harborough.

The appeal is being issued by Northamptonshire Police’s Rural Crime Team after the animals were rounded up on Great Oxendon Road, Arthingworth.

Officers leapt into action after the alarm was raised at about 9.30pm on Friday, November 13 as the ponies posed a danger to motorists as they ran loose.

The small horses were rescued and are now being cared for by a contractor on behalf of police.

“However, officers are appealing for the owner to get in touch with them, or anyone who may know who the ponies belong to,” said police.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 547 of 13/11/20.”
