Revved-up Louise Manchester, 54, is going to open up her sewing, clothing alterations and repairs shop in the town centre on Tuesday November 3.

The highly-experienced seamstress is branching out on her own as Speedy Sew, where she's now the manager, prepares to close in the next few days.

"I'm very excited.

"This will be the first time I'll have set up my own business and I am really looking forward to it," said Louise, who lives in Market Harborough.

"I have worked at Speedy Sew on Manor Walk in the town for almost 15 years.

"But it's shutting down at the end of this month and so I am moving on.

"I have got to know so many people from all over Market Harborough and the villages over the years - and we get a lot of customers come here from Northampton too.

"We have built up a loyal army of fantastic customers - they know me and I know them.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed working at Speedy Sew since we moved back here from Perth in Australia.

"But now it's full steam ahead as I focus on opening my new business called 'Alterations by Louise'," said the enterprising mum-of-two.

And her new enterprise is proving a real family affair as her husband Steven, 60, works hard fitting out her new unit at the Coach House on Talbot Yard off Market Harborough's High Street.

"We are tucked away in a fantastic central spot in the alley between Wildwood restaurant and the Nationwide Building Society.

"I'll have five days off after finishing here before throwing our doors open on Tuesday November 3 and cracking straight on.

"Steven's a plumber by trade but he's very handy.

"And he's fitting out our new unit as we put in sewing machines, a counter, a changing room and a cutting table," said Louise.

"I'll be doing more curtains as well as carrying out repairs and alterations to everything from trousers to dresses, skirts and all sorts of clothing.

"It may well be slow for the next six months or so as this Covid-19 pandemic goes on and I've allowed for that.

"But I am sure that the local economy will pick up again next year and we will bounce back from this.

"I have been involved in this sort of work for 25-30 years and it's a real passion of mine.

"I love what I do and I love meeting and talking to all of our customers.

"So bring it on, I can't wait to get started," declared Louise.

You will be able to call her at Alterations by Louise on 01858 288290 once she gets started sewing and altering on November 3.
