The organisers of Harborough’s NHS hero convoy are fighting to get 500 Facebook ‘likes’ to mount one last hurrah on Thursday night.

They are desperate to stage their fifth and final tour of Market Harborough, Lubenham and Marston Trussell this week.

The hooting, tooting cavalcade is set to go ahead and bring down the curtain to coincide with the last clap for NHS heroes and other critical workers.

Adam Hutcheson, 34, of Northampton Road-based Peppers Metal Recycling, has been helping to put on the event with his close colleagues Craig Davies and Dave Bown.

“We are champing at the bit to stage one last convoy on Thursday night.

“It’s been a fantastic success until now and we are keen to end on a high note,” said Adam.

“But we want to make sure that we have got the full support of the public.

“We’ve had a few people moaning about us and what we do on social media and we just can’t understand that.

“That’s why we want to attract 500 ‘likes’ from the good people of Harborough.

“That way there can be no arguing with what we are doing.

“By mid-afternoon on Tuesday we had already notched up almost 400 ‘likes’ on our Facebook page.

“So I’m pretty sure that we will get there.”

The dad-of-three said he’s hoping that 40-50 trucks, vans, tractors and cars will take part in Thursday night’s planned spectacular.

“We aren’t doing this for ourselves.

“We are doing it to salute NHS workers who risk their lives fighting the coronavirus every day,” said Adam.

“And we are also doing it to say a huge thank you to every other critical worker during this terrible time.

“So please get behind us – we really appreciate all your support.”
