New £25,000 sports ground is being built in Kibworth Harcourt

A superb new £25,000 sports ground is being built in Kibworth Harcourt.

Work has started on the keenly-anticipated Multi-Use Games Area at Warwick Park.

The complex is being bankrolled by community cash handed over by housebuilders.

And the outdoors facility is set to be completed by the end of July.

Cllr Kevin Feltham, chairman of Kibworth Harcourt Parish Council, said: “This is going to be a fantastic addition to our village, a brilliant new resource.

“This centre is being built on the site of our old skate park – which had to be closed years ago due to serious vandalism.”

Also a county councillor for the area, he added: “We are really looking forward to this being finished.

“Youngsters will be able to play loads of sports here – football, netball and basketball for starters.

“It will be great for them to get out and play sport and exercise safely.

“It’s going to be a very flexible, versatile resource.

“This has been in the pipeline for about 18 months.

“We are confident that it will be completed by the end of next month.

“We will also be taking special security measures to keep a close eye on this complex and make sure that it’s not vandalised or attacked.”

Cllr Feltham said they are still keen to create a new skate park as well.

“We appreciate that our youngsters like to skate as well,” he said.

“So we are actively looking for a site to build a new skate park at the moment.”
