Lutterworth welcomes Christmas with virtual lights switch on
Brilliant Christmas lights have been switched on in Lutterworth as the town gets ready to welcome Santa
The dazzling display was flicked on virtually by Lutterworth Mayor Rob Coleman.
“It’s bitterly disappointing that we couldn’t stage our usual spectacular annual ceremony but we’ve done the best we can,” said Rob.
“I’m 66 and I’ve been involved with our Christmas lights here almost my life – and my father was before me.

“So this is a really important tradition for me as well as for everyone here in the Lutterworth area.
“As a town council we are doing our utmost best to make this Christmas as jolly as we can.
“We are staging a best-dressed shop window contest as well as the best-decorated house,” said Rob.
“And, of course, we are appealing to people to come into town here as much as they can and support our fantastic local shops and businesses in the weeks before Christmas at such a tough time.”
