As well as becoming well known for her work at the mic, the dedicated married mum-of-one played a lynchpin role behind the scenes.

Hfm programme controller Chris Jones has paid a powerful tribute to Soozie, famed for her great sense of humour and cheery smile.

Chris said: “It’s a tragic loss for the station.

“She first got involved as a listener back in 1995.

“She very quickly became a valued helper, helping on the phones here.”

He said Soozie became a “huge part of the station”.

“She became a director and was a member of of the management team.

“Everyone here at Hfm is going to miss Soozie so much.”

Tireless Soozie co-presented a weekly Wednesday evening show and never let her sight disability stand in her way.

She was also heavily involved with the Market Harborough branch of Diabetes UK and leaves a husband and son.

The tragic blow comes just weeks after Soozie’s fellow Hfm presenter Brian Raine died suddenly in October aged 66.
