“I honestly thought we would struggle to sell the calendars this year as we have been in lockdown and unable to see people in the normal way.

“However, everyone has been fantastic and we have sold more calendars and raised more money than last year,” said Peter.

“Last year we got to go along to the Get Busy Living Centre and see the great work that Matt’s Foundation is doing there.

“For obvious reasons we couldn’t go this year.

“But we know the money will be put to good use and hope that they enjoy the wildlife pictures as much as everyone else seems to.

“We plan to do it again next year and hopefully we can raise even more money!”

Matt Hampson’s nationally-renowned foundation is based at Burrough on the Hill, near Melton Mowbray.

The brilliant-gifted young Leicester Tigers prop was just 20 when he suffered devastating injuries in a freak accident in an England Under-21 training session in 2005.

Matt, who had a dazzling rugby union career in front of him, was paralysed from the neck down and could only breathe via a ventilator.

But the inspiring star bounced back from the tragedy to set up his foundation to support others who have also been catastrophically injured playing sport.
