How the Harborough district is getting inventive to show their support for the NHS

Forget the classic old nursery rhyme about the little piggy that went to market.

This little piggy stayed at home – as we all should these days - while saluting our brilliant NHS staff at the same time.

Snuggled in between two cute sheep, the pink porker is part of an eye-catching trailer tribute to all key workers on Beauchamp Grange Farm on the A6 just south of Kibworth.

A thank you message to the bin men, taken by John March in Gumley.

And the colourful rainbow-starred rustic salute is already stirring up a lovestorm on social media.

Claire Coppin, 32, created and designed the totemic tribute along with Charlotte Stanbridge, sister of her partner James Stanbridge.

“We started creating it on Good Friday and it took us two full days.

“It took us a fair time to find all the materials we needed on the farm – and James set it all up on the trailer and drove it out.

“We wanted to say our own huge thank you to our magnificent NHS staff and other essential workers,” said Claire, who works for insurance company NFU Mutual.

“We go out to applaud the NHS at 8pm on a Thursday night and I can hear the clapping from Kibworth.

“But nobody can hear us on the farm!

“And nobody could see the rainbows in our windows.

“So I dreamed up this idea.

“We’re on a great spot just by the A6.

“We’ve been getting some fantastic feedback on social media.

“It puts a smile on people’s faces as they drive past.

“And it shows our massive appreciation for the NHS and all of our key workers.”

Like all villages and towns in the Harborough district, the village of Gumley has also been showing their support with posters on windows and on the village sign.

John March took the photos attached in this article, showing how villagers are uniting in their support for the NHS.

Also, ten-year-old Lara Smith in Horninghold has been making sticky backed rainbows which she sells for the NHS. Windows in Horninghold are buzzing with them (see picture attached).
