The special slots will offer elderly people help and information which they may otherwise have got from social events cancelled during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The sessions will take place every other Wednesday between 1pm-3pm on the lunchtime show on Harborough FM.

Gail Devereux-Batchelor, the owner of Home Instead, said: “Prior to lockdown, we organised regular information days for older people.

“But these cannot go ahead any more due to Covid-19 restrictions.

“We don’t want people to miss out on this vital information, so decided to provide this advice through the airwaves.”

She added: “The sessions will provide different information each week on topical subjects.

“They will range from scam awareness to personal safety and information on dementia - alongside offering information about local events for seniors and entertainment including local knowledge quizzes and nostalgic music.

“Throughout the nationwide lockdown we have been unable to engage with the local community as much as we would normally have done.

“We wanted to play a more active role in providing advice and guidance to local older people, especially as the winter months approach, and hope working with the local radio station through our ‘Friendship Lunch Hours’ will help us achieve this.”

Home Instead provides home care services, including home help, companionship and specialist dementia care, throughout Harborough.
