The charity has funded part of the blueprint while the well-established club has bankrolled the rest.

Charity chairman Adrian Trotter said: “This project meets many of our objectives, with the club providing sporting activity for all ages and contributing to the health and welfare of people in the area.

“We are pleased to be able to help.

“We welcome opportunities to work with local sports clubs, so please don’t hesitate to talk to us to see if we can help you.”

Bowling club chairman Richard Hall said: “We are fully appreciative of the contribution made by the charity to this project.

“We endeavour to be a key player in the local community.”

He added: “Our clubhouse is used by a number of local groups and organisations as well as individual hirers.

“However, the core of our purpose is the game of bowls and this new green will seriously enhance our activity.

“Many, many thanks!”
