Harborough youth centre gets a welcome financial boost

A Market Harborough youth centre is being backed by a local housebuilder.

The CUBE, based at Symington Recreation Ground off St Mary’s Road, has been handed £600 by Redrow Homes South Midlands.

Run by Harborough Youth and Community Trust, the CUBE opened in May 2014.

The thriving initiative gives youngsters a safe place to meet and learn new skills in partnership with local businesses as well as offering counselling and mentoring.

Charlotte Cooper, 26, Youth Work Manager at the CUBE, said: “We’re delighted to have received funding from Redrow to help us furnish a new meeting room.

“This will provide a safe haven for young people and a place for local groups to meet without interruption, allowing us to continue bringing our vision to help young people in Market Harborough thrive to life.”

She added: “On behalf of everyone at Harborough Youth and Community Trust, I would like to say a big thank you to Redrow for helping us to make a difference.”

Suzanne Irons, sales director for Redrow Homes South Midlands, said: “As part of our commitment to create thriving communities, we were pleased to be able to support the Harborough Youth and Community Trust in their mission, which is important now more than ever.

“The CUBE Youth Centre is an essential community hub for young people in Market Harborough and beyond, offering a variety of services to those who need it.

“We’re proud to play a part in some of these youngsters’ future by contributing to the creation of a much-needed safe space for them to meet.”
