Roadworks in a Harborough village are set to be carried out by Doctor Who after a surreal sign turning the calendar upside down was put up, villagers are joking.

The notice that suddenly appeared by the main A4304 in North Kilworth told people that work would start on Friday November 27 and end on Monday November 9 – a time-defying 18 days earlier.

An amused villager tweeted: “Imminent roadworks in North Kilworth.

“Looks like Dr Who is the Main Contractor given the dates on the sign.”

Western Power Distribution, which will be carrying out the urgent scheme, have now apologised for the embarrassing slip-up and changed the sign.

Contractors will actually begin installing an electricity cable to a new homes development in North Kilworth on Tuesday October 27 and the work will run until November 9.

Drivers on the busy road linking local villages and Market Harborough to the M1 are being warned that temporary traffic lights are being set up there.
