Fundraising calendar showing Harborough pub staff and punters in cheeky poses is proving to be a huge success

A cheeky calendar produced by a Market Harborough pub to support a children’s heart charity is selling like hot mince pies.

The 2020 page-turner, selling for a minimum £5 each, is being marketed by the Nags Head in Church Street.

Pub manager Angela Denison told the Harborough Mail: “We’ve already sold 60-65 copies – it’s been the talk of the pub.

“It’s gone down a real storm with customers and townspeople so we’re all absolutely ecstatic.”

Every penny raised from sales of the calendar will go to boost the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity (CRY).

And it’s been inspired by brave Nags Head barmaid Amy Lockwood.

Amy’s bubbly three-year-old daughter Freyja has a rare genetic disorder called Brugada syndrome.

The unusual condition can make the heart beat dangerously fast.

Brugada syndrome tragically killed Freyja’s dad two years ago when he was just in his late 20s.

“Everybody here loves Amy and little Freyja and we’re determined to do our best for them.

“We’ve already raised several hundred pounds for the heart charity and money is still coming in,” said Angela.

“The public reaction’s been great and Amy’s really pleased.

People do get sick of having a charity tin waved in front of them.

“But this is a fantastic local cause that they can relate to – and that makes all the difference.”

The Nags Head calendar shows both pub staff and punters as you’ve never seen them before.

“We’re starring men and women and it’s very tongue in cheek naughty,” smiled Angela.

“Some of the blokes are pictured strategically hiding their crown jewels and it’s a huge laugh.

“We’re already planning next year’s chart-topping calendar for an excellent Harborough cause.

“It’ll be even saucier than this year’s and I’m sure there’ll be no end of volunteers lining up to star in it.”
