More than 1,000 knitted angels have winged their way to homes across Fleckney.

In 2018 some 400 angels were knitted by local churchgoers and handed out across the village.

But this year a group from the New Life Church called on residents to join in with the project and together they knitted and handed out 1,300 angels for villagers to put on their Christmas trees.

Many were given to pupils at Fleckney Primary School while around 70 were given to residents at Saddington Grange Nursing Home.

A project spokeswoman said: “Copying a Christmas project started by churches in the North East, churchgoers knitted angels in 2018 and distributed them for people to take and put on their Christmas trees.

“This year, the first since lockdown, we asked the help of villagers as there are so many new houses in Fleckney. The response was tremendous and a small group of people from church distributed angels around the village.”
