Fire service looks for newest recruits at Market Harborough parkrun event

Fire crews and volunteers were out in full force at the weekend for Welland Park’s weekly parkrun event, on the look out for people to join the service.

As part of Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s recruitment drive, firefighters were scouting people with potential to become part of a fire crew.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead Helena Russo said the service was ‘delighted" to have the chance to be involved in the Market Harborough parkrun takeover.

Helena said: "We had lovely, sunny weather for the morning, and a mix of support staff, on-call firefighters and current wholetime firefighters were involved as marshals, barcode scanners and general support!

"It was a great way to support our promotion of the wholetime firefighter recruitment process.”

The fire service has applications open for people interested in becoming a wholetime firefighter – full-time, professional emergency responder at one of its stations in the county.

Until 11.59pm on October 28 – people can submit their application to join the service.

Helena added: "Thank you to everyone who came to speak to us about roles across LFRS, and anyone interested in wholetime positions or on-call opportunities local to Market Harborough can visit our website – https://leics-fire.gov.uk/current-vacancies

"Huge thanks also to the very welcoming volunteer team at Market Harborough parkrun."
