Elderly man injured in crash in a village near Lutterworth

An elderly man was injured today when his car crashed into a ditch in a village near Lutterworth.

The casualty received first aid at the scene from firefighters after the accident in Gurney Lane, Kimcote, just before 10am.

The man was taken by ambulance to Leicester Royal Infirmary but is not thought to be seriously injured.

A fire engine from Lutterworth raced to deal with the one-car drama along with police and two ambulances.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call at 9.57am to Kimcote.

“The caller reported that there had been a road traffic collision.

“We sent two ambulances and one patient was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary.”

Police said the vehicle was now being recovered and the road had not been closed.
