Can you find help return this Harborough eagle to a new home?

It has been part of St Hugh's Church for many decades, holding a large bible while looking out towards the congregation.

But now the church in Northampton Road, Market Harborough, has made internal changes to their building and has no requirement for the wooden eagle.

The piece was presented to the church in memory of Alice Olive Payne (18) and Edna May Payne (37) on October 7, 1939.

Alistair Helm from the church said: "Although we no longer have a use for this beautiful piece of furniture we would like it to be returned to the family who originally donated it to the church. All our efforts so far have not identified any close relaitives and so we hope that this appeal in the Harborough Mail is successful."

Any one who has any knowlege of the family is asked to contact Alistair Helm on 07557 375844.
