Alberto Costa, MP for South Leicestershire, visited the Leicester Marriott Hotel for a briefing with representatives from local tourism businesses including Leicester Marriott Hotel, Everards Brewery, Hilton Leicester, Badgers Mount Hotel and Bruntingthorpe Events.

The visit was part of English Tourism Week (March 5 to 13), a week-long national celebration of events showcasing the quality and vibrancy of the visitor experience, and the value of the county’s and England’s tourism industry.

Mr Costa said: “The tourism industry is of great importance locally and nationally, and I’m keen to support its growth as MP for South Leicestershire.

“We have a range of attractions and facilities across the constituency, which play a crucial role in the local sector and it was great to hear from some of those organisations.

“I would encourage all to visit the goleicestershire.com website to see what options are available and to take advantage of the excellent offering we have across both the county and the city.”

Martin Peters, chief executive of Leicester Shire Promotions, added: “Tourism is a vital sector for economic growth in Alberto’s constituency of South Leicestershire and for Leicester and Leicestershire as a whole.

“English Tourism Week is a great opportunity for MPs such as Alberto, along with tourism businesses and residents.”
