A man suffered burns to his hands after a discarded cigarette is believed to have sparked a freak fire at his home in Desborough.

The shocked resident was given emergency first aid on the spot by the town’s firefighters who dashed to tackle the blaze at his home on Hawfinch Green on Saturday night.
