How a present can support the past

If you want to buy early Christmas presents and support a local institution, then there’s a Christmas Fair in Lutterworth that you shouldn’t miss.

Lutterworth Museum’s Christmas Craft Fair is on Saturday, November 15, from 10am to 4pm.

All profits go to the Museum, which although it is staffed by volunteers, still costs £14,000 a year to run.

Museum Events Manager Stuart Hammond said the fair will feature more than 25 stalls with a Christmas theme, and a cafe serving hot food.

It’s at the home of the museum - the OneStop Shop, Wycliffe House, in Gilmorton Road, Lutterworth.

The independent museum, which opened in 1991, is a charitable trust

It is home to many displays, photographs and artefacts from Lutterworth and the surrounding villages.

It also includes a very large collection of memorabilia linked to Sir Frank Whittle, the inventor of the jet engine, who developed the engine for many years in premises in Lutterworth.

The museum also has a small shop selling books, cards and other items of Lutterworth interest.
