About eight firefighters used two breathing apparatus kits, a hose reel jet and a special thermal imaging camera as they battled the blaze for almost 50 minutes.
The dishwasher was wrecked while the kitchen suffered smoke damage as crewmen used a pressure ventilation fan in a bid to clear fumes from the house.
